Candyland - Bring the Rain EP

Great EP out last week from Santa Barbra duo Candyland, with remixes by the likes of Butch Clancy, Gold Top and HeRobust! Cool mix of Electro-Dubsteppy-Trap goodness. I especially like the Ftampa remix of It's a Shark and Butch Clancy's remix of Castle of Affair.

So what are you waiting for? Cram it down your ear-holes!

Macklemore - The Remixes

Hey crew, got some cool remixes of some Macklemore songs. He has developed a very personal style of lyricism as well discussing modern problems such as gay rights and substance abuse. Major Lazer released a couple remixes of Can't Hold Us which inspired me to find a few more Macklemore mixes and them together for you. Enjoy~

Zeds Dead - Jambalaya Mix

New mix out from Toronto locals Zeds Dead. Interesting collection of songs from the likes of Major Lazer, Minnesota, RL Grimes, Tyler the Creator and a few Zeds Dead originals. Not my favourite mix to come from these guys, probably because its lacking originals. I would be giddy to hear these boys put out some vintage ZD tracks with the sinister bass and distorted effects we came to love them for. That said, they are doing some great stuff in the new Trap genre. Listen to the mix here yo!

Daft Punk - Random Access Memories

One of the most anticipated albums of the year was released yesterday, Daft Punk's Random Access Memories. With the kind of hype that comes with an album like this, from such a respected name in electronic music, there's a lot of pressure for this album to perform. I think the boys from France came through.

They've managed to maintain the quintessential sound that defines Daft Punk while still seeming new and creative. The album maintains a vintage techno/disco sound, expanding the use of vocals in songs from previous albums. Many lovers of newer electronic music might find Daft Punk's sound a bit foreign, but these guys, along with Justice, were hugely influential on the electronic artists of today.

Random Access Memories can be chalked up in the list of awesome Daft Punk albums, despite the long break and high expectations that come with such an established groups new release. You can listen to the single from this record Get Lucky below:

Coyote Kisses - Thundercolor EP

New 4 song EP out from electronic artist COYOTE KISSES. A much more mellow sound coming from these guys, known for their killer drops and synth works, this EP is more relaxed. Its very D&B influenced, while still keeping the COYOTE KISSES groove.

Daft Punk - Get Lucky

First sounds from the new DAFT PUNK ALBUM! Sounds like this album is going to be really cool! Sounds like vintage daft punk, I'm excited to see if they can bring this album together. When a legendary group like daft punk releases something with as much hype as this, there is bound to be some controversy. This first release has inspired confidence and excitement for the rest of the album, for me at least!

Greyscale 03/16/13

Good morning everybody, very excited to show you this, my very first attempt at broadcasting! My friends Steve, Danny and I are involved at the Queens radio station, CFRC. We are working towards getting our own weekly show, which will show indie and electronic music in a progression between the two, highlighting the blending of genres and supporting local artists. This is our demo show, which Steve and I recorded this weekend (Danny will join soon). I hope you find this interesting or at least humorous!

cheers,

tim

Mad Decent

Hello humanoids,

One thing that always brings a smile to my face is new music, which means I'm a pretty happy guy because there is so much fantastic music being made every second, it can get a little crazy! One great way to find music in this fancy-dancy internet age is to make use of music labels, as a source of new music and keeping up with your favourites!

There are thousands of labels out there, each with a collection of artists which represents them. Through the internet, they communicate with fans and provide a lot of new material for people to listen too! By following a label, you can stay current with the artists you know, find new artists that are approved by artists you already respect, and can do 147,000 other things!

Today I wanted to highlight just one, MAD DECENT. This label is the brainchild of the one and only DIPLO. Out of Phili and LA, this label supports the likes of FLOSSTRADAMU5, ZEDS DEAD, DILLON FRANCIS and BAAUER. DIPLO goes a step further by introducing listeners to MAD DECENT artists on his BBC RADIO 1 show, Diplo and Friends. One of the best, and my favourite labels in electronic music, keeping up to date with MAD DECENT has expanded my knowledge and opened me up to a bunch of new artists and styles.

I will post a list of great labels to check out soon! Enjoy MAD DECENT's page and as Samuel De Champlain would say: "lets explore (french laugh)"

Coyote Kisses

Greetings fellow mammals,

Got another sweet suggestion for you all, I discovered while procrastinating at the library, COYOTE KISSES. A duo out of Lakeland, Florida, these guys have put out some massive tracks including an awesome STAR WARS remix and some fantastic original tracks. My favourite track is a remix of SEVEN LIONS Days to Come, which won a remix contest hosted by the amazing label MAD DECENT. They have a really funky sound, falling somewhere between the techno/disco/dubstep/house genres, they make great use of original keyboard samples in order to make some big room bangers. With a very complimentary sound to PROTOTYPERAPTOR, they are self discribed as:

"Imagine if Apollo 13 made a successful lunar landing. Except this time, they had a disco ball. And electric guitars." --- Coyote Kisses

Keep an out out for their new EP, coming out sooooooooon!
